WAGES OF SIN

WAGES OF SIN was formed in the early 1980s by Kathleen Damon.  It is known as one of the most influential bands to emerge from the Bay Area Gothic and Death Rock Scene from that era.  One could catch WAGES OF SIN performing with THE CRAMPS at Berkeley Square, FAITH NO MORE at the Vis Club in San Francisco,  The FUCKUPS at the Linda Street Fair, THE SWANS at the Mabuhay, SAVAGE REPUBLIC in San Diego, ELLIOT SCHNEIDER  at The Stone in SF,  FRIGHTWIG at the Mab, THE CHURCH at One Step Beyond in Santa Clara, THE NUNS in Oakland, and SPECIMAN at the Mabuhay, to name a few.

In the late 1980s. KPIX, Channel 5, aired a reality style show called "Notes To My Parents", where they interview Kathleen about the Gothic/Deathrock scene, having contributed much to its success. They chose her song, "Daddy" to be included. KPIX also interviewed a guitarist from DEATH ANGEL who was popular during that time period.

In 2001 at The Haight Street Faire, WAGES OF SIN headlined on the Masonic stage while MERL SAUNDERS graced the Stanyan stage. WAGES OF SIN headlined at the legendary Whisky A-Go-Go in Hollywood. WAGES OF SIN, with Brittly Black on drums played his final show opening for Gitane Demone of CHRISTIAN DEATH at the SF POUND.

In the mid 1980s, Vusic Express created and distributed the first video compilation to over 300 venues nationwide. They chose "In The Shadows" out of 5 songs including "No Room", "Stunning", "Trial By Fire", and "Daddy", with Gary Creiman of Hyde Street Studios as engineer. KOMMUNITY FK had a song featured on the same video.

MTV, in its earliest days, had a show called "The Basement Tapes", where VJ Alan Hunter interviewed Kathleen and aired "In The Shadows".

"Howard The Duck", now a cult classic movie about a Marvel Comic book character, contained a bar scene at the Mabuhay where Thomas Dolby was bartender. A fight scene involving Howard began, and he slid down the bar straight towards Kathleen, where she and many other Mab regulars watched in disbelief. If you can read lips, you will see Kathleen saying "Oh S###!!!" as Howard slides within inches of her hand on the bar.

A documentary to "Howard The Duck" entitled "Howard The Doc or: How I Learned to Start Quacking and Love the Bomb", produced and filmed by Ernie Trinidad, Interviews Kathleen as well as many others in "Howard The Duck", asking numerous questions about being on the set with a duck and about their involvement in the movie. This documentary is scheduled to be released in 2021, if all goes as planned.
